I grew up in a Swiss home where making music and learning to create things with my own hands fostered the appreciation for hand made things. Through endless hours spent with my father in museums, at antique shows and street art markets I learned to “see” the beauty in the work made by artisans. My academic path led me to become a scientist using my hands to perform biomedical research experiments and as a graduate student I became interested in working with clay. Many years later, I taught myself the basics of wheel throwing, established my own studio and began to seriously making pots. My pieces evolved over time, yet I was always drawn to the beauty of traditional folk ware. My recent trips to Japan, visiting pottery studios and meeting the potters invigorated my deep fascination for the Japanese esthetic. I want to make everyday functional pieces to be used for sharing meals, drink tea or display flowers. If you are interested in purchasing, please contact me.
